Process Description: A ceramic nanofiltration unit is a specialized membrane filtration system designed to treat industrial water and wastewater streams by removing suspended solids, oils, microorganisms, and certain dissolved organics and metals. Unlike reverse osmosis (RO) systems, which use polymer membranes to remove nearly all dissolved salts and produce highly purified water, ceramic nanofiltration operates at lower pressures and targets a broader range of contaminants without completely demineralizing the water. Ceramic membranes are significantly more resistant to heat, fouling, and aggressive chemicals, allowing for frequent and diligent cleaning. As a result, ceramic nanofiltration units are particularly well-suited for harsh industrial environments, such as in the oil and gas, mining, and chemical processing industries where RO systems may not be viable due to membrane sensitivity or high maintenance requirements. While RO excels in producing ultrapure water, ceramic nanofiltration provides a more robust and sustainable solution for treating difficult or variable feedwater.
